New Years Eve (Donnhoff, Realm and Saxum) (Our home): This bottle may have leaked a bit (or the one on top of it did). The color is a deep gold, perhaps a bit more than expected but the wine is sound. Actually, it is outstanding. The nose has a slight diesel note with minerals and slight pineapple. Great lush texture. Slightly sweet. Really deep and complex wine. "Wet stones", pineapple, and slight citrus notes. Slightly honeyed on the finish. The acidity is good for the vintage and makes for a nice back bone. Long finish. Just a great wine.
Intense and concentrated with a nose of sweet lime, honey and spice. It has the depth and sweetness of Auslese but is light on its feet. There's a big lick of minerally acidity and length is impressive.
Looks rich and bright golden in the glass. Scents of peaches and golden delicious apples. Not as acidic as I might have expected for the richness, but it is just wonderful for anything light and savory for this slight sweetness to play off of.
Gentle gold in colour. Nose of ripe lemons. Fresh bite immediately on palate. Rich texture. Sweet lemons on very long, very clean finish. Went well with hot smoked pheasant but I didn't like the pheasant! but I liked this wine, a sipping wine. Plenty still to go for. Try again in 2017. Well balanced and elegant.
