Decanted for 1 hour. Meh, not flawed, just ok. Cork in v. good condition. Served with roasted lamb leg and ravioli. After dinner with sliced Parm. Nose somewhat inviting and taste is balanced but no features stand out as particularly interesting. Certainly not worth WS retail $255 offering. Drink up.

The nose is beautiful evoking aromas of fresh cherries, roses, tar, some woodsy / earthy elements there as well; the fruit on the palate is beautifully intense, everything seems well proportioned, very harmonious with sweet tannins providing a lingering finish. A great wine. Still drinking incredibly young (tasted this blind and put this somewhere around 2010 and was quite shocked when the vintage was revealed). 17.5/20

Nice scent, fruity but not overloaded, well balanced. Opened up very quickly on the palate (not decanted), very nice for the first 45 minutes. It got more bold afterwards, still nice, but lacked depth. Should go now.

A stunning incredible floral aroma immediately upon opening. Absolutely filled the room with beauty and remained thru dinner. Dark ruby red with minimal sediment that was initially a bit acidity but within 30 minutes improved considerably to be quite the happy Barolo experience that I had always expected.

7th Wedding Anniversary dinner at Limoncello. 375ml bottle. Cork broke so sommelier poured through filter into decanter. Drank over next 30+ mins. Appearance is not clear, fine cloudy sediments, deep intensity, garnet colour. Legs. Nose is clean, medium+ intensity, with aromas of mushrooms, dank undergrowth earth with chocolate bits, vein of stony minerality, dried dark red cherries, dark berries. Brambly blueberries with more air. Developed. On the palate, dry, high acidity dipping intermittently, medium+ alcohol (14%), integrated though furry high tannins, full body. Medium+ flavour intensity, with flavours of dark red cherries, dark berry fruits, savoury mushrooms, mouth-filling dark dank forest floor earth, strong stony minerality. Blueberry and spice with more air. Long finish. Very good quality. Time to drink up and enjoy especially in smaller bottle format, as the fruit though dark but does not feel particularly dense or up to further ageing. Oak already integrated. Note that Antinori took over Prunotto fully from Beppe Colla in 1994, and the subsequent years till 2005 were apparently the years with a darker more forward style with heavy oak influence. Not so much terroir expression. From the large Bussia cru in the commune of Monforte d'Alba.
