Bonhams Pre-Auction Tasting (San Francisco): Light red, lighter weight. Elegant and exquisitely balanced. A knockout, even for this old curmudgeon who rarely meets a Cabernet that he likes. I'd love to have this accompany dinner tonight.
Trelio with the fellas (Clovis Ca.): Loved this….perfect dryness to the liqueured berry fruit….dusty cocoa/graphite powder, little green herb streak, white pepper….expressive with precision. Great wine!
Perfect storage since release. Primary blue and black fruits with a tinge of black licorice. Beautifully made, slick drinking wine, but never has lived up to the high 90s hype. Drink now or hold for 10 more..who knows. I sold all my '99-'03 because there was no read as to where these were really going. Still feel the same today.
Crimson in color with some bricking on the edge of the glass. 14.5% ABV. Great nose of cedar, leather and violets. Big, powerful Cabernet Sauvignon. Black cherry, currants, cassis, cocoa and eucalyptus on the palate. Still somewhat tannic with an exceptionally long finish. Great showing. Drink over the next several years.
