Paired with filet and rib eye but overshadowed by the 2005 Cakebread Cab, as well as the appetizer Jack Creek 2005 Lost Boys Vineyard Pinot and the Denner Ditchdigger Paso Rhone blend. Thinner than I'd expect for a Barolo and no reason to hold. That said, I appreciated the quirky and different angle from the Cal wines. Soft is a good dx by my predecessor.
