  La grosse surprise, surtout que je n'attendais pas grand chose de cette dernière bouteille après deux premiers essais plutôt décevants. Le bouchon se casse en deux, mais j'arrive à l'extraire finalement, je goûte un peu, et c'est vraiment pas terrible à l'ouverture : nez muet, bouche ordinaire avec une acidité haute... Une heure plus tard, je carafe et je sers immédiatement, un magnifique nez de vieux pinot (très) mûr embaume dans le verre, la bouche est belle, charnue (certains partent sur un rhône ou un italien), mais avec beaucoup d'élégance. Incroyable comme le vin, qui semblait un peu dépouillé, manquant de matière lors des précédentes bouteilles, est ici riche, et carrément trop jeune ! 93 aujourd'hui, mais sans doute plus dans 5 ans... j'ai mal jugé ce millésime.

  10th of 12, opened 120 minutes, perfect cork and level, fragrance developing nicely since last bottle in Dec 18 and starting to show more nuance whilst retaining proper Santenots heft, still upside, a 15 year plus wine yet even in this lighter vintage. F (17.5).

  Quite similar to the 2000. Tart red fruits and maybe a bit more depth than the prior vintage, but again it showed quite primary and tight.

  The 01 Lafon Santenots is all about cranberry and redcurrant with subtle mineral accents. There’s a touch of cola; I wondered if this reflected youthful reduction before the wine’s identity was revealed. This may need more time to develop tertiary nuance and it’s pleasant today, but doesn’t grab me.

  Il s'agit indéniablement d'un beau vin, je l'ai mieux goûté qu'il y a 4 ans. Le nez est splendide, beaucoup de fruit, une pointe d'orange sanguine, pas d'évolution tertiaire. La bouche est délicate, bien équilibrée, tanins super fins et soyeux, encore du fruit, mais le milieu de bouche et la finale déçoivent un peu par manque d'intensité. C'est un vin à aller chercher, presque à boire seul car un plat trop prononcé pourrait le détruire.
