The nose delivers tired dried cherries and burnt leather, strange...rubber bands??...a bit punky. Not much more satisfaction in the mouth. The cork was fine, but it seemed oxidized. Poor balance and dead fruit...on the whole a dissapointment
From a 375 and Greenblanket found this wine to still be pretty darn fresh. It showed the usual cab franc aromatics and high toned palate but offered a new set of blueberry flavors this time around. Greenblanket is starting to believe that you have to wait a long time for Ben Smith's wines to fully express themselves.
