A really great value with this wine. Stood the bottle up for a day, very little sediment. Decanted 30 minutes and drank over 2 hours. Color is very dark, looks much younger than a '96. A nice nose of dark fruits, violets, licorice, leather, and spice. Medium-bodied. Lacks a little complexity on the palate, but is definitely a charmer. Fine tannins, moderate acidity. Medium finish. Drink this now if you have it; guessing there is still some time left, but it's not going to improve from here.
Beautiful dress, dense, deep and intense . Nose with scents of licorice and red fruit backed by a burnt wood. On the palate, good size, structured, intense fruit (cherry), woody and velvety texture. 95 plus She still a baby !!!
This 19 year old wine was tasted blind-the wine chosen from the cellar by my wife. The garnet color and presence of sediment hinted to its age. The body was semi-opaque rather than opaque making the wine less likely to be from an exceptional vintage such as 2000 or 1990. The bouquet was aged with cedar, mushrooms and earth. However, there were primary aromas of blackcurrant cherries and blueberries. Cigarbox roses and mint were there too. The balance was slightly off with the prominent acid structure showing through the facade of the wine. The body was medium with a length of 25 seconds. The wine has a feminine nature and classically made. Accessed with Coravin the second time-the last a few weeks ago. Drunk from 17 degrees c. In the decanter for 40 minutes. Riedel Bordeaux. The wine was bought when a few years old and cellared at 14 degrees C for about 15 years.
This 18 year old Margaux wine was purchased by myself when only a few years old. It has been cellared well. Garnet semi opaque appearance. Aged aromas of mushroom and cedar. Roses and gravel. Cherries and blackcurrant. Cigar box. Medium bodied. Elegant. Has reached full maturity. Coravin first pour. 16 degrees C. Riedel Bourdeaux. In the decanter for 10 minutes. See my tasting note from 2011 when rated 94.
