Duckhorn cabs age well and may actually be better than the more acclaimed merlot. This beauty was opened about 30 minutes before pouring and was not decanted. The coloring is a nice dark garnet with no bricking on the rim. The nose gave off lots of black fruit aromas, particularly blackberry, along with some cassis. The palate added complexity with hints of cocoa, pepper and leather. The tannins are not visible, but this remains a muscular, incredibly smooth cab. I doubt the wine will improve with more age, but properly cellared it will last for several more years. Grill a steak and enjoy!

Poured to a garnet coloring and maybe, just maybe a hint of bricking on the rim. Lots of black fruit, cassis, pepper and cocoa on the tongue. Tannins have faded more in the 4 years since the last bottle was opened. Wine improved for a good hour so it's finally getting close to its peak. Still a powerful cab, and wonderful with a steak.

Incredibly expressive on the nose... Black cassis, licorice, anise spice, dark chocolate, and a touch of brown sugar. Finish contains ripe fruit, lingering finish that goes on for almost 30 sec. Slightly drying and grippy tannins, but softened with a standing rib roast for dinner. Decanted for 2 hrs.

Wine is in a very good spot and probably on the decline as the oak notes have faded (this is a good thing IMO). A very smooth classic cali wine

Nice. Good flavors but not that complex.
