  • The color mirrors to perfection that of a perfect cherry - a deep brilliant maroon. Dark smokey bouquet of wood, black cherry, fig, bitter chocolate, vanilla and black pepper. The bouquet was powerful but I felt a little too much as if I was sitting in a candy shop where the vanilla, cherry and wood seemed to jumped forward and smother the other notes. Upon tasting the wine, I sort of felt as if it continually improved over time, allowing the brandied cherry and vanilla flavor to take a slight step back, allowing for the mineral and slight spice flavors to take their stance. I enjoyed the wine, although I find it to be weighing a bit too heavy on the acidity, it is a nice wine. 3.0

  • Dark deep cherry, chocolate, and new oak with a touch of anise in the background make this a very new world wine nose. Rich and interesting but a bit heavey on the vanilla notes. In the mouth the big acidity gives way to fine but soft tannins while flavors of sour cherry, cinnamon, allspice, and wood round it out. Nice wine for quaffing though the pure fruit gets a bit lost to the vanilla wood. 3/5
