  • Bottle 502 of 572. Classic dark and extracted Leroy nose, though there isn't as much dirt as I'd like there to be, or as much as I'd expect from a Nuits. This is more focussed on ripe dark fruit with a slightly herbal and high-toned edge. The palate is quite round and fat, and showing a lot of the same ripe fruit character. Decent acidity keeps this from becoming too much of a blob. The tannins are still there, but there's just enough to add a little bit of chew to the finish, which also helps with the ripe fruit. This finishes with a slight bit of rust that I find surprising given the commune, but whatevs, this is a great bottle. Went great with coq au vin.
