How can you argue with Parker and Tanzer concurring on an 88 for this. Old world and lovely, even worked with a salad. Really rocked it with some good parmesan cheese. Nose of dark berries, maybe black raspberries and mulberry with oiled leather gaining as it opened up. The palate reveals more leather and dark fruit with some coffee and a trail of spice. So good, it's hard to believe this is an '02 from Spain. May be a bit weak on the QPR.

Remelluri tasting at Booze. Toasty oak, spice and cherries. Easy going palate, good balance with maybe just a need for slightly more freshness. Very pleasant indeed, but nowhere near approaching the quality levevls of the Gran Reserva.

Blind Spanish Tasting (Wesabi's Abode): Decanted for 1 hour. This wine exhibited a dark garnet color. On the nose, aromas of cherry, plums, and blackberries were joined by notes of spice and earthiness with hints of oak lingering in the background. On the palate, flavors of cherries, plums and black raspberries were joined by notes of vanilla and spice on the finish. The oak definitely was present on this one and was a bit distracting but overall a solid Spanish wine. HS88

Dust, dirt. Great old world juice. Not hugely complex...but well made and nicely integrated.
