Stunning and intense nose. This is clearly a very ripe style, but it is beautifully balanced with good minerality and acidity. Had a bit of a meaty / gamey touch to it as well. A bit of a paradox in the mouth: not the longest aftertaste, but very full bodied and extremely tasty. A beautiful mature Burgundy.
Burgundy night in Scottsdale (Scottsdale): A stunning nose of spice, red and black fruit, beautiful floral notes and a bit of earth. Wonderful detail on the palate that certainly displayed clean, sleek ripe fruit but also a gamey note as well as lovely spice. Long, detailed finish that emphasized the fruit. Very sleek yet plenty of complexity.
Nose is haunting...Sweet, dark fruit, perfume, flowers, earth, spice, autumnal. Palate shows power, elegance, purity. There is fruit, earth, acidity all in this beautiful package. This is Burgundy! Hard to put in words. Profound.
Monday Night 1990 Themed Dinner (The Principal): Another classic Rousseau CsJ. Lovely nose of dark cherry followed by the earthy notes. Fruit, acidity, savory and mineralty - they're all here. Just perfect weight and balance and drinking at peak. More than held its own even after the flight of Rhone/Bordeaux that followed - like Bruce Lee with numb-chucks against a gang of heavy weight boxers. Red WOTN for me.

(Rousseau Gevrey Chambertin "Clos St. Jacques") This was beautiful wine but seemed a touch candied for my palate. Perfect balance and very elegant fruit. Definetly not a bruiser. Has really calmed down. Acidity a touch low. Great nose of funk and cherries. Nice but somehow I think I would probably prefer the '91 or '93.
