Winefield's pre-auction tasting, june 2022: this wine cheers you up, even after 41 years. a modest, but friendly bouquet with some remaining fruit and the fruit continues in the smooth taste, good balance and edible tannins.

Just opened 2 hours ago. Great buy few days ago. Survived in very good shape; no serious signs of being over the hill. Classic impression of an perfectly aged Bordeaux: aged notes, very earthy, dark plums, different herbs Inside, old wooden cupboard, dark red core with just some mahagoni impacts on the rim. I would buy more if available. For lovers of aged Bordeaux: very much recommended! Consume over the next 5 to 7 years or so...

Have drunk 6 over last 2 years with a 50% strike rate. Half were corked. The better ones were drinkable but showing their age. Pleasant but not a lot of character or complexity.

Medium nose. Cherry, cedar. Medium acidity and tannin. After breathing, the palate was friendly. Had past its peak.
