I tend to think of this as an austere wine, but served next to a 1992 Lynch Bages it was nearly flamboyant. The aromatics are everything I expect from Quilceda, bright and exploding with blueberry and violet. It was almost confected in contrast to the more austere Lynch-Bages, but as I spend time with it you realize that it is classic Quilceda. The palate is the classic tannin-hammer that I have come to expect over the past 15 years. Chewy, unrepenting and pure. This is some kick-you-in-the-teeth Cabernet that always makes me smile.
Another excellent bottle, youthful and structured, loaded with balsamic notes. Slight benefit from a couple hours in decanter or very long slow ox, but not essential for great bottles like this one. Took to LPV75 Paris.
