Drank with beef Bourgogne. Held up well against the very rich stew with enough tannin and backbone that it didn't get lost. This is a very earthy old school style wine. Some dark fruit more like prunes than bright berries. Definite funky notes with tobacco/ tar. This is not for everyone and will not be a crowd pleaser if into fruity wines - but I enjoyed it.
I popped this open with Korean barbecue and it was fantastic. Rich red fruit, with meat and spice. The wine was impeccably balanced and really surprised me. It held up very well to the sugar and spice in the Korean food (at least as well as the other 500 wines that I have tried). Outstanding. thedrunencyclist.com

(Guigal Gigondas) #3; VaynerPAZZZ; COLOR-dark; NOSE-very vegetal (green asparagus); black pepper & black licorice; beef jerky; very interesting; very Old World; TASTE-very thin on my palate (Lindsey Lohan/Olsen Twins); solid effort; strawberry and ice cream "Chocolate Taco"; little bit of tar; completely absent on the mid-palate and the finish is a little awkward & green; also a little hazel nut on the finish which is nice; RP-90; GV-86
