why is the last bottle of a wine always the best, even when you don't actually like it? again, my major complaint is the almost anti-chard characteristic of the fruit. scored this time to give some reference point.

revisiting this wine almost one year later is deja vu all over again. really, what the hell is this? my initial impression is that it is under-ripe. or is it? this has to be more in the winemaking than ripeness, or even the oak treatment. i return to my original complaint, which is that as a chardonnay, it's characteristics don't jibe. i will say this, it's unique, but not necessarily in a good way. ok...i'm going with under-ripe after all.

if this had been a sauvignon blanc or a domestic rhone varietal, i would have said...ok, not bad. but as a chardonnay, it was grassy, too sharply acidic, and didn't come across anything like a chardonnay. weird.

Grassy, honeysuckle with a sweet attack, medium body. more rhoneish vs chard.
