  Fruit holding up nicely. Tannins while integrated dominate as the fruit fades leaving a dry dusty grip. Drink up or wait as this could be interesting in another 5 years if the tannins continue to calm down and the fruit holds. I am going to hold my last bottle if I can resist

  Drank 2/3 of the bottle without realising, with only some help from a friend. From the outset the nose is very open, floral and delightful. some sediment around the cork, and PnP with a Vinturi. Wonderful fiolets on the nose and palate, with drying tannins kicking in quite soon. The tannins younger must have been huge, as there are still some bitter tannins on the long tannin-dusty finish, and I'm a little worried that they are just too big. The tannins have some lovely aromatic floral components to them, and acidity is still keen, so they complement the wine well. "Secondary:" bottle characteristics have not (yet) taken over from the primary red fruit on the palate, which while present and juice, have definitely lost their youthful kicks. I hope they do, but I'm slightly concerned that they won't and the big (like Spanish) tannins will be all tha remains.
  
  Impressive at the outset, however!
  Still plenty of red fruit, but perhaps a little hotter than I'd expected. Probably best drunk within the hour I think, but I may change that opinion when drinking the remnants tomorrow.
