Community Tasting History

Community Tasting Notes (average 86.6 pts. and median of 87 pts. in 14 notes)

Tasted by cobystilp on 8/20/2010 & rated 91 points: So I only had two bottles of this wine. I drank the first one way too early. This bottle was actually awesome. It has aged into a mellow, round spicy cab. The tannins have smoothed out and are now silky. I get a lot of young cherry fruit on the underbrush. Just plain drinking great right now. A very good bottle of wine for the price. Would buy again. I lost some faith but have seen the value again. I will start buying the CH wines again. (97 views)

Tasted by Acohen on 4/26/2009 & rated 86 points: Fruit was nice at first but mellowed quickly. (632 views)
Tasted by DanSm on 3/26/2009: Either the bottle was bad or....?

Harsh and medicinal. I leave my other bottle in the cellar for four more years. (744 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 1/24/2009 & rated 87 points: pretty good fruit and medium finish (722 views)
Tasted by Acohen on 12/30/2008 & rated 88 points: getting to be quite nice with good fruit and medium finish (743 views)

Tasted by Dillo on 9/10/2008 & rated 83 points: Despite having a deep opaque ruby color, and an appealing nose, this wine came across very thin. Aromas of black current, plum and spice are prominent, with some earth & black olive in the background. Surprisingly light body, decent acidity, but displays flavors more consistent with red fruit (almost chianti-esque) flavors and has a bitingly astringent green tannic finish. This wine is not at all flawed, but is just an ok effort. (830 views)
Tasted by bahiadave on 6/23/2008: i think better than other reviewers. Not bad. (950 views)
Tasted by payneclay on 4/8/2008 & rated 89 points: (834 views)
Tasted by neurovino on 3/22/2008 & rated 79 points: I found this wine weak, a bit watery, and generally lacking in flavor. As compared to being subtle, it's just lacking. Not offensive. Just not remarkable in any way. (1184 views)
Tasted by lagniappe on 2/11/2008: I would have to agree with the previous taster. I didn't drink this food so I feel like I was less pleased. I feel that this wine really needs to age. Cellar it and come back in a few years (1142 views)
Tasted by cobystilp on 8/19/2007 & rated 87 points: No formal notes. Took on our vacation to Rockport and drank the first night with steaks on the grill. The wine could have had bottle shock. It is also a very young wine. I would encourage others to let it cellar and try in 6-12 months. I have one more bottle and will wait. I expected a little more. (1417 views)

California is one of the most diverse wine regions in the world, with almost 100 grape varieties grown in over 100 viticultural areas, including dozens of different microclimates and soil types, as well as a very individualistic set of winemakers, many with international experience, which adds to and deepens that diversity.
