Community Tasting Notes (13) Avg Score: 91.2 points

  • Texas Wine School Kings of Italy Class. This was decanted for an hour and a half, but it showed best after four hours. Medium garnet with some tawny hues and some rim variation. The nose is clean, developing (+) and earthy, with a fair amount of ripe berries, minty herbs and forest floor. The palate is nicely developed and is more appealing than the nose, with plenty of black fruit and sweet spice left. Medium (+) acidity and tannins; the alcohol is medium at 13.5%. Very well balanced, with medium (+) body and flavor intensity. The finish is long and delicious, with a pleasant, slightly bitter red licorice note. It is actually drinking better now than in April, or perhaps this bottle was a little fresher. It is solidly in its optimal drinking window, but it has several years of life left. This was one of the top 3 favorite wines of the class. WS 92 upon release.
