  • This pours light garnet in the glass with light bricking. The nose is immediately expressive and complex only improving with air showing dried blueberry, dried cherry, thyme blossom, smoked meat, animal fur, cracked black pepper, dried lavender, decaying rose petals, perfume, smouldering fire pit, dill pickle brine, and diesel fuel. The palate is pure silk with bright blueberry and red tart fruit. Tannin is virtually gone while acid remains medium plus, almost high. The finish isn’t quite as long as you might expect from a top wine, but is still quite enjoyable. Really nice wine and a worthwhile rival to the amazing 1991. This wine is built on pure elegance, one of the most floral and red fruited mature Northern Rhones I've ever had.

  • On its way out, as the fruit is fading, still, there was more than enough cherries, smoke, earth, and crushed rock in the nose to make the perfume stand out. On the palate, the wine no longer offers its kick of acidity, it is soft, round, and polished with a red plum, cocoa, dried thyme, and cherry griotte finish. This is not a wine for further development, Drink from 2023-2027.

    Grand vin !

  • Has nice acidity, residual tannins with residual secondary flavors with tertiary notes with leather and wet earth.

  • Democratic Wine Dinner (My house): Pop and pour. This wine was a rockstar. Dried herbs, spice mix, lots of tar, beef blood, cherry, blue fruit, cassis, brambly wet forest floor. What was cool was that you'd get a new smell or taste out of it every time. This was the best Chapoutier I've had, I'm still not sure they're worth the current asking prices, but this rocked.

(CHAPOUTIER Mordoree Cote Rotie) Friday SPECIAL Dear Friends, Some hard to find formats and crazy prices below - all are in perfect condition, directly from the source. To find original 3.0lt bottles of Cote Rotie at this point (from the cellar) is quite rare, so take note. Have a good weekend everyone! 2005 Moulin Haut Laroque (Fronsac) LIMITED 3/person (Compare at more - one of the better values of 2005. You can look up the scores if you need to but look for Suckling to give the overall vintage 100pts next week...) 1996 Klein aux Vieux Remparts “Burgreben” Riesling (Alsace) LIMITED 3/person They sent us an extra ten cases of this wine as they felt bad there was space left-over on a pallet - it’s not everyday that a winery “fills” a pallet with 12 year old Riesling at peak...obviously the amount of wine all of you ordered made an impression. These are the only bottles available in the US. 2003 Chapoutier Crozes-Hermitage “Les Varonniers” 3.0lt 1999 Chapoutier Cote Rotie La Mordoree 3.0lt 1990 Chapoutier Cote Rotie La Mordoree 3.0lt - $1874.30 (these are some of the most impressive bottles of Cote Rotie I’ve ever seen) FIRST COME FIRST SERVED up to the stated limits Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Bord6340 Als1200 Rhone2220 Rhone2230 Rhone2240
