Amazing. This wine was beautifully colored, smooth, flowery nose, and had a nice body. And it was not expensive when I bought it. Those were the days in CA! No mas! !

Dark with a purple rim. Very aromatic. It begins with dark cherry, blackberry and blueberry while the typical toasty smoked meat gains momentum and dominates the finish. It's better in every way after about an hour in the decanter. The fruit integrates slightly, at least the smoked meat is less apparent, and the palate softens. Excellent balance, some force on the palate but always class and elegance. Great at the table with strong foods. Now or cellar. Mangled and deformed cork - plunger/jaws/bottle misalignment but wine was fine.

The 2005 Carneros Syrah has aromas of bright blueberry and boysenberry, nutmeg, black licorice and smoked meats. The palate explores hints of toastiness and exhibits flavors of berry and currant spice, ending in a lingering finish of plum. Try this wine with pan seared venison steak and sweet potato mash.
