Very light and easy sipper. This wine does not display the typical characteristics associated with the Chardonnay varietal. In fact - its light color and good acidity seem to mirror Sauvignon Blanc. Not bad for an American negociant - style wine.

(SLIPSTREAM Chardonnay) Chardonnay Dear Friends, Every summer I get a large number of wedding wine requests or requests to start searching for holiday wine that can be purchased above the 12 bottle limit that is well-priced and of high quality (not such an easy task). Most of those requests are for Cabernet and Chardonnay and today I think I’ve found the perfect white to fit the bill - Ben Hammerschlag’s Slipstream Chardonnay. This is Ben’s home estate label from his house in the McLaren Vale and he found a fantastic parcel of Chardonnay in the Adelaide Hills that he knew would produce world-class results (especially in 2006, a vintage that was long, cool and extended - perfect for white varietals). The result is in the bottle. This wine over-delivers on quality with a reserve and focus notably absent from Chardonnay in this price range - even our Burgundy fans would be delighted to drink this any night of the week. Really an eye-opener and bravo to Ben for keeping the glop and sauce to a minimum and the varietal focus to a maximum. Quite hard to find and one of the Chardonnay bargains of the year: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for outstanding value in a field of pretenders 2006 Slipstream Chardonnay Adelaide Hills Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Aus4750
