This exceeded expectations. An initially over-oaked sweet fruit cab turned into a very nice mid weight currants filled and acidity laced cab with smoky oak nicely integrated. Medium and smooth finish. Nice Howell mountain fruit cab drinking at its prime. Give it some air (at least 30 mins, 60 mins ideally). Paired with roasted rib-eye roast and butter sage gnocchi.

This seems to be getting passed its prime and seemed a bit tired - aromas of German chocolate cake, blueberry and oak with flavors emitting dark chocolate, black cherry, and allspice.

Bright and lively on the palate. Lots of bright fruit and not even close to past its prime. The tannins are very soft and well-integrated. Very typical of Howell Mountain fruit. Absolutely lovely. A word of warning, the bottle had quite a bit of sediment even at the neck, so be sure to wipe the inside of the bottle before you begin pouring. Absolutely lovely and it probably has at least three years left if not more.
