Gregor Breuer Tasting (Villa Merton, 1 Michelin Star, Frankfurt): Glass: Schott Zwiesel White wine Clear, golden yellow color. Interesting nose. Smells like “Orangina” lemonade, later of freshly opened Coke or Almdudler. Lots of blossoms and herbs with air. Wonderful acidity. Orange notes, herbs, bitter notes. Beautiful mineral core. Dense, deep, very good tension and structure, good length. Drinks beautiful now, potential for 5+ years. 92-93+

wonderful fully mature Breuer Riesling, a dry Sauernes and very well aged Rheingau Riesling despite its only 12 years age. Light to mid golden colour, full body. Slight sweetness, velvet taste. Might lack bit minerality and depth vis-a-vis the other Berg-sites, still a success and will keep for a while. 94p.

{cork, 13%} Way better than the last bottle; no oxidation evident here. This is a mid-yellow colour, with an aging, muted nose of honey and lemon/better. The palate is medium/full-bodied, with the same flavours as the nose, along with a schist-like quality. Medium acid balances out the aging flavours, and it all culminates in a brown leaf and lemon-tinged, dry, assertive finish. Perhaps it could be a bit longer and multi-dimensional, if I'm brutal, but this is pretty decent. Think it's ready to drink now.

{cork, 13%} Mid yellow. Developing nose; soft peaches, white fruits, hint of green apple. Quite reticent, even at a range of temperatures. The palate is quite soft and furry, with seemingly low acidity which only really makes a fleeting appearance to add some life to the medium-length finish. Although the soft apple and flower palate is pleasant enough, it doesn't really sparkle, not is it especially minerally or crystaline. Just seems a bit flabby in texture somehow. Dry finish; there's no sugar evident anywhere on the palate here. Probably at peak; might hold a while - this particular cork looked very sound, short and stubby though it was.

Quite austere, lots of nice acidity, but also some underlying richness.
