  • 89. As before (11/2008), a distinct, but pleasant tawny sweetness in a clear, med. full wine. The aggressive heat is only minus.

  • We strained through a cheesecloth into a large bottom decanter. The cork led me to believe that we had an oxidized wine as there were slight blemishes on top of the cork that led me to believe the wine had experienced seepage at some point. Then the cork crumbled under the corksrew, but yet, we carried on. The wine was lighter red compared to the darker purple I have experienced in other Turleys, but there really was no brown edges on the decanter to lead me to belive that the winehasd turned. Smelt immediatley of cherries and slight plums, reminded me of some 04-05 Linne Calodo's in its fruitiness. It drank well right away, zin flavors, slight tannins, paired very well with some salami and cheese( not sure the type of cheeses, wifey picked them out and does not recall what she picked). A hint of brown or fading wine showed up in the mouth in the last half glass, probably could have left that in the bottle or maybe I was a bit paranoid as the misses didn't notice. Proceed with caution, but you might be in for a nice surpise.

  • The heat and the sweetness are only glimmers now. A very nice med. body of some clarity. A light, subtly off-dry tawny. Perfect now.

  • The alcohol level is really too high on this wine and it is defintely hot in the mouth. It really needs to be served on the cool side (say, 60 -62 degrees) and should be consumed fairly soon. A bit disappointiing given the previous scores.

  • The tannins have mellowed very nicely in this wine, leaving a solid structure for the dark fruit flavors to come through. Took a good hour to open up, but once it did, very nice complexity and a long finish.
