  • First wine tasted from Boxler.
I did not see all of this botrytis coming...
The element of unpredictability in Alsace is starting to resemble that found in Vouvray, where you simply don't know what you're going to find.
Despite the hue, the wine didn't appear overly tired. It provided good tension, but the dominating element was botrytis rather than any site derived characteristic.
Just a little RS but not enough to be distracting.
I will try to find some more of his wines with less botrytis, as the wine seemed quite well made.

  • My last bottle. Unctuous, achingly dry apricot and stone fruit finish. Great complexity but I'm not totally loving the hint of bitterness in the finish, maybe it will evolve overnight.

Yep, one night in the fridge rounded out all the rough edges.

  • Opened on a bitterly cold winter movie night, to the company of buttered popcorn. What a great pairing for this wine. Intense extracted green fruit - green apples mostly - and a nice acid finish make this a total palate cleanser and a great contrast to the food. This is a bold Riesling its prime; I have one bottle remaining in my cellar and I doubt it will last until summer.

  • Just a well crafted Riesling, dry with intense green fruit and a long finish. Great wine for summer. Tonight with a chicken and tomato sandwich.

Sublime on day 2. Increased complexity and length of finish. More floral elements with the attack, and more peach pit and complex notes in the finish. Outstanding.

  • Warm at first. Best cold. Fruity but dry. Apple, mellon. Really yummy. Four out of five stars.
