I never intended on leaving this bottle for so long, but it just wound up going that way. The aromas on this are still very pleasing: tart and refreshing, including some apple and minerals, with almost a slight aged Riesling notion now. The palate carries some of that aged Riesling character, as this shows some slightly nutty, slightly oxidized notions. The finish is a little nastier now, and falls apart a bit, as it feels flabby and quite rusty in character. I also get a notion of rotten apples. Quite flat flavors on the finish. This wine was pretty awesome on release, and has been in steady decline since then. A reminder to future vintages to drink them young.

Honey, crisp green apple with hints of yeast show on the nose. Really dry on the palate, delicate bubbles with a really clean feel initially, this had an odd oily almost viscous texture left behind on the finish. Throughout the palate granny smith and green pear give generously enough but overall the intensity of this wine is low to medium. The finish is pretty short but leaves behind nice acidity. Tasty stuff!

Blind Champagne - Dom Pérignon loses to Cava AGAIN (My House (Portland, OR)): Fairly light and zesty on the nose. Shows some apple and marijuana on the mid-palate, with a finish that's a bit funky and raspy. Nice bubbles throughout, with good acid on the finish. The early bottles I've had of this were all so much better than the recent, and the 2006 is also drinking amazingly better than this. Perhaps these have a short life span?

Popped and poured, lots of little tight bubbles mixed with larger bubbles come rushing to the top. The nose shows banana, stone and pear which give the wine an overall step out of the shower, fresh feeling. On the palate more pear then stone, give way to a long mineral and Granny Smith apple finish.

Josh Raynolds didn't let me down on this one... this is an amazing value. Served at cellar temperature 15 minutes after opening. Shows aromas of marijuana, blue stone, apple, and banana. Bright and fleshy on the elegant mid-palate, showing a hint of sweetness with some petrol flavors and apple. Begins with a little harsh acidity on the finish, but quickly goes to fresh honeysuckle, and honeydew melon. Finish is quite long as it's apple and pear notes remain with me for over a minute. This really hit its stride an hour open. I would venture to say this is better than MOST Champange's I've had at four times the cost.
