Drank unfairly in the midst of a New Year's day party with 25 different wines going. Majority enjoyed it, except for my elitist French pigs. Soft and balanced but beginning to fade

drink immediately after decanting, no time in decanter needed - wonderful, traditional CA meritage aromas of cedar, leather, hint of violet; dark fruit, cedar, hint of sweetness on finish, moderate length finish - very good wine and remained constant for first 2 hours in decanter, fruit faded and flavors became less distinguishable over hours 3 and 4

Wine has held up well. Fruit of black cherry still present, with classic aged undertones of earthiness. Integrated tannins. A nice wine, but not special. Paid $35 for it in 2001, though, and would have hoped for more at that price-point.

NobleRottersSydney - California (mostly) (Alio's, Surry Hills): [13.5%, cork] {Glenn} A bordeaux blend. Aged nose. Cabernet-ish, but of the weedy kind. The palate is all sinews and tendons without much flesh. Pity, because it seems like a well-built wine using inferior components. But Napa in 1998 has this reputation, no perhaps it’s no surprise. There’s a lot of air around the bones of this wine, so you are kind of aware of everything missing while you taste, though of itself it’s not too bad a wine. Objectively though, past its best. Pity.
