  • Pondering the latest Kistler offering so decided to see how this was doing at age 10. Doubled decanted based on my last experience with this wine. Medium deep gold. After initial decant outrageous nose of a melange of fruits: peach, quince, pear, papaya musk melon with tropical overtones and quite spicy. Intense and long on the palate with the low yield/ripe fruit intensity very characteristic of Kistler but this bottling is much better balanced between fruit and dry extract than others. Excellent showing so far; far superior to last bottle. Second tasting: nose has receded somewhat but much better balanced between mineral and fruit on the palate; not as exuberant but more classy.

  • Kleur: Medium diep goudgeel Aroma / bouquet: Rijp en rijk, venkel, vanille, steenfruit, tropisch fruit (ananas, banaan), yoghurt, vleugje kaneel. Smaak / Afdronk: Dik-sappige, romige wijn, weelderig, zachte zuurgraad, retronasale indrukken van venkel, tropisch fruit, gebrande nootjes. Afdronk: Indrukwekkend lang. Algemeen / potentieel: Parker noemt deze wijnen 'unmistakably Burgundian in their aromatics, textures, and flavor profiles'.

    Google Translate:

Color: Medium deep golden yellow Aroma / bouquet: Ripe and rich, fennel, vanilla, stone fruit, tropical fruit (pineapple, banana), yogurt, cinnamon Taste. / Finish: Thick juicy, creamy wine, lush, soft acidity, retronasal pressing fennel, tropical fruit, roasted nuts. Finish: Impressive long General / potential:. Parker calls this wine "unmistakably Burgundian In Their aromatics, textures, and flavor profiles. For me, obviously Napa Chardonnay: thick, rich, fat and buttery, not the subtlety of Burgundy. But at least as tasty;-) 50 + Color: 5 + Aroma / bouquet: 12 + Taste / Finish: 16 + General / potential: 8 = 91/100

  • Mature yellow color. Layers of sweet fruit with enough acidity to balance. Drinking lovely.

  • Popped and poured. Medium deep gold. Rather closed on the nose; on the palate, typical Kistler structure and intensity; long finish, but at least initially not particularly interesting. Powerful but not bright. Perhaps will improve with air; this bottle is not oxidized or over the hill. As it warmed up and aired this became more interesting and also was much better with food; still a powerful wine at age 8 but unclear where it will go from here.
