  • Medium gold. The nose could easily passed for a nice dessert wine like those from the Loire, or even a Sauternes: a lot of dried apricot, tropical fruit notes, like guava, etc, honey, bortrytis, very rich and ripe. (Probably Auslese in terms of ripeness despite what the label says.) On the palate, acidity that is typical of Riesling, dry to dry-ish (probably around or less than 10g/L. Reminds me of a very good Alsatian, but without the heaviness (high alcohol, residual sugar). Good concentration, medium plus body and finish with notes of stone. Drinking very well now, but should hold for 5 plus years or more.

  • We don't often get trocken wines in BC, let alone aged wines, so when a mere case of this arrived at a great price, I was quick to serve it with a salmon dinner last night. Lovely herbal and mineral nose with some citrus notes. Lovely pure palate, with lime, lemon, honeydew melon and slate notes. Great balance here, as it has enough fruit (and RS) to leave a fairly dry, lingering finish. If all trocken wines were this balanced, they'd be much more popular outside Germany (A-)!
