(Bouchard Père et Fils Nuits St.Georges Clos St.Marc) Medium-plus cherry-red colour. The nose starts with a forward blast of oaky and mineral tones. Time in the glass gives red fruit and a coffee, mocha-tinged almost texturally furry nose - it just shades more blue with time, and it never stops improving. The palate is muscular though the tannin is buried by the concentration, but what is discernible is finely textured. Excellent acidity with good dimension in the mid-palate. The finish has decent length but is currently one-dimensional. It’s an excellent Nuits - no question, approaching grand cru

Floral and fruity in the nose, berries, cherries, mints, roses, and violets; complex, fruity, and smooth on the plate, berries, cherries, wood spices, and some unresolved tannins; medium+ long finish; overall, 92-93 points at this stage, quite enjoyable as paired with Italian cuisine, and some potential to become more mature in a few more years.

2005 Bouchard Pere et Fils Nuits St. George Clos Saint Marc 1o Cru
Cellared since release
45 minute decant
Deep ruby, almost purple color with slight lightening at the rim. There was a complex nose of black fruit, forest floor, and a hint of tobacco. On the palate the wine was open knit (a bit usual for a NSG) with rich black fruit of considerable depth. There was excellent balance and complexity, with nice spice on the 30 second finish. Really enjoyable. Wish I had more
