Very ripe cherry fruit, vanilla, cedar, cocoa and dark chocolate. At times the fruit is a bit candy-like. Pretty intense flavor that overwhelms my palate but I think new world fans would like the flavor profile. The body seems a little lightweight, not quite watery though. Tannins seem very mild and the acid seems good to me (I do have a palate sensitivity to acid). Despite its age it taste pretty young to me. The nose does smell like a pile of leaves in fall and some earth, but the alcohol is more dominant.
The longer it is open the older it tastes.

Still deep purple, doesn't show 9 years of age. Intense, brooding, and spicy. Great match with grilled marinated carne asada.
