  • Final btl. Pop and pour. Another fantastic showing, and the highlight of the night. On the nose: crushed red fruit, with wild strawberry, brambles and pomegranate galore, soft soy and a touch of tamari, fantastic salinity...On the palate: excellent acidity, soft soy, pomegranate molasses, dried rainier cherry, soft black pepper...enveloping, but perhaps a touch thin, given the flavors, and attenuated tannin on a smooth finish.

  • This lovely again, and completely mature. On the nose, leather, blackberry, coconut, wood smoke, cocoa, so expressive. On the palate, lovely acidity, blackberry, wild strawberry, leather, loads of earth. Tannin completely attenuated and a soft finish.

  • A fantastic showing. AFAIK, the vines for this cuvee were leased from Meo-Camuzet and returned to that house in 06 or 07, so this cuvee no longer exists. A gorgeous nose with a hint of funk and a mix of dry and fresh red fruit, framed by a touch of toast oak. Very good on the palate, with excellent density and acidity...dark earth and red fruit. This is drinking so well right now, but the Cameron was just more exciting.

Day 3: this is still very compelling. Has been in the refrigerator since opening. More black pepper, cherry compote on the nose and palate, with some wet earth and good acidity and tannin on the finish still.

  • Assorted Red Burgs (Vintage Berkeley, Berkeley, CA): Slightly bretty nose but not offensive. Beautiful in the mouth, red fruit, some earth and spice, all really well integrated. My co-WOTF along with the Bruno Clair.
