Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 91 points

  • Better than the bottle from last month. Faded paper notes but still some underlying structure and enough material to provide a real finish. 91-

  • Intact and recognizable but faded on the edges to the point that it turns into just old Chablis on the finish. Lacking energy and acid by the backpalate. This bottle was good enough to drink.

  • From an excellent looking bottle, this wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. The medium+ intensity nose displayed apple, honey, white stone and a hint of marzipan.

In the mouth, the wine was ripe and rich with substantial acidity and excellent length. Unfortunately, it was tainted by a hint ethyl acetate that held back my score. Despite this, the underlying material was obvious.

While drinkable, I would give this another 5 years in the cellar. Other bottles should improve. This one was debatable.

  • Tasted blind, this wine had a medium yellow center and clear rims. The high intensity nose showed classic Raveneau honey suckle, apple, and white stone.

Overall the wine was nice out of the gate but the acidity and length improved dramatically with 3+ hours of air. It was rich and ripe in the mouth but still svelte and had great finishing acidity. In addition to the flavors noted in the nose there was just a hint of toffee to add complexity. As I have said before, even the professionals often don't give wines like this enough air time to evolve. This is drinking well with 3+ hours of air or aged 5+ years in the cellar.

  • Again from an excellent looking bottle, this wine was very similar to my note from two weeks ago. This one took more like 3 hours of decenter time to blossom. Prior to this it was reasonably nice in the mouth but not much was showing in the nose (which was odd). After the air time though, it was very nice, featuring an attarctive nose, a rich entry, and that classic acidic, white stone finish. This additional data point continues to suggest additional aging for these 1992's is warranted.
