Very dark color still with bricking on the edges. Nose of caramel coated prunes and figs, which lends it a somewhat sweet aura. Raisins as well as a slight oxidative tone. In the mouth sweet entry with plenty of stuffing, but the fruit has faded and only a shell of sweet alcoholic cooked fruit remains. Last bottle. Although technically nothing wrong with this, it just got too old and faded into its downslope journey.

Apparently “should” have been drunk 6 years ago...! Seems ok to me. Color still dark a rich but with some fading round the edges, as you’d expect. Nose quite restrained but perhaps some tobacco notes and maybe a little dusty. Can you smell alcohol...? Fruit drying out a little perhaps but it’s still dark fruit (damsons and sloes to the fore) in good strength. Sharp acid and definite tannins all balance out quite well.. though it does have a very dry finish: again not surprisingly.
Only more more bottle and we won’t keep it long. If all “passed it” wines with this good, you wouldn’t find me complaining!

Classic, well-structured, well made, good fruit, not the weight and intensity one would hope for perhaps, but nice "liqueur": a bit tight still, a little coarse too. May turn out very well in a few years.

Good wine. Not spectacular but a solid performance, complete, lovage a bit dominant right now.
