Just fantastic for its age. Beautiful red fruits of slightly dried but very pleasant character, spice, mushroom, good earth, and a bit of smoky dried meat.
Unbelievable acidity led us to dare to decant this. It actually filled and rounded out after about 1-1.5 hours open. Very supple mouth framed by excellent persistence. Woot woot!

NSG Central Tasting (Chicago): Terrific aromas of meaty black cherry with spice and earth. Quite fresh, plump and rich on the palate. Bold meaty flavors of blood, mushroom, and earth. Smooth and concentrated. Would easily pass for a wine half its age.

Nuits St Georges 1er "Central" Tasting (Chicagoland IL): Perfect fill and cork. Opened at 5:15 with glorious aromas of intense black cherry and rich, savory spice. Bottle was divided 7 ways for our virtual tasting at 6:45, and this was still very enticing but less spiced and formidable. But still very robust with more fruit than you would typically expect from 1066 1er. Very good length.

This was a bit rustic and thin at first. It took several hours to round out and show its refined integration.
The medium+ intensity nose put forth violets, forest floor, dried cherries, and minerals. After this got over over it’s rough period it was refined with light tannin and good length.
Despite this bottle seeming to be in great shape, this wine was a bit past its prime. It still was nice but not quite as nice as other bottles. Drink up!

Another bottle from this batch. It was 93-94 points for the first couple hours. Surpringly for such a refined wine, it got better after 4+ hours in the decanter. It had a lovely silky texture. Impressive!
