| | Tasted by soyhead on 11/20/2009 & rated 89 points: light sweet, granny smith apple, crisp with good acidity, just not riproaring, which i was hoping for. (174 views) |
| | Tasted by dougsmith on 9/27/2009 & rated 86 points: Light lemon with a slight green tinge. Intense nose of ripe apple, pear, caraway and a touch of gasoline. There was also a strong sulfurous note at the beginning, but it blew off in a half hour or so. It prickles the edges of the tongue on the attack; perhaps medium sweet, full bodied and somewhat cloying. Needs more acidity. Also falls off a little on the finish. Perhaps an effect of the heat in 03? Anyhow better on the nose than the palate. (208 views) |
| | Tasted by uncle_fester on 7/19/2009 & rated 87 points: Not the best bottle of this wine that I've had. Some funk after opening that took about 30 minutes to blow off. Steely with some apricot. Taking on a bit more color and viscous qualities. (240 views) |
| | Tasted by BonnieM on 7/4/2009: Lots of yeast with just the lightest spritz. yummy! (213 views) |
| | Tasted by uncle_fester on 5/31/2009 & rated 90 points: This is maturing nicely. Still some frizzante. Intense pear and apple tastes with a creamy texture to it. I don't think this is in prime drinking range yet. Maybe another year. (274 views) |

| | Tasted by frqntflyr on 2/5/2007 & rated 90 points: Picked up that sulfur everyone talks about. Poured into a decanter for half an hour. Came back to a nose of mostly petrol with some apple in the mix. Very direct and to the point but quite tasty. Great acidity and balance. Nice QPR for 23 bucks...will buy more. Perhaps more time in bottle will help this young wine as well! (1090 views) |
| | Tasted by Machiavelli on 12/1/2006: Dinner at Paese with the gang. Initially that sweaty, stinky reductive aroma everyone talk about young JJ Prum. However with time (30-45 mins) it began to open to reveal pear, apple, although not very expressive nose. On the palate, it was off-dry, well balanced, medium acidity, but a wonderful texture and density; light and intense at the same time. Long finish. I guess JJ Prum's really do need a lot of time. Tasted August 12, 2006 at a retail tasting. Served in a Reidel Restaurant Magnum glass. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Nose of diesel, peach and citrus fruits. Flavors of peach, sweet cherries and pears with cloves. Medium acidity with medium body. Should drink well for several years. Upgrading my previous rating of 88 points to 90 points. Based on my local retail price of $26.34 I’d say the value here is recommended. (1868 views) |

Tasted June 10, 2006 at an offline. Opened and served immediately in a Spiegelau Authentis Rot Wein glass. Visited several times over the evening. Light yellow color in the glass, clear hue throughout. Fairly significant sulphur on the nose at first but that seemed to quickly disappait with time in glass and the bottle being opened and partially poured. Once the sulphur cleared picked up some floral notes along with some apricots. Flavors of orange foam, apricot and peaches. Medium bodied with somewhat crisp acidity. Lack liDrink over the next 5-7 years re-evaluating along the way. I’d recommend splash decanting and immediately returning to bottle just before serving in order to help blow off some of that sulphur right up front. I’m thinking this wine is close to the $20.00 a bottle mark so I’d say the value at that price point is between agreeable and recommended. It would definitely be recommended if it wasn’t for the obnoxious up front sulphur on the nose. (2535 views) |
| | Tasted by CallahanCellar on 5/26/2006 & rated 91 points: Delicious. The fruit, acidity, and minerality are all balanced. A very nice example of a Kabinett. (1712 views) |
| | Tasted by evanbaines on 5/7/2006 & rated 93 points: Marvelous, cheerful wine. Lovely minerality, with both floral and fruity notes. Sulfer blew off immediately after opening. Tempting to gulp it down! (1778 views) |
| | Tasted by AllRed on 5/3/2006 & rated 90 points: Upon opening, notes of sulfur and petrol. Significant swirling brings out peach, mineral and apple blossom aromas. Lush palate, with rich tropical fruit and minerals framed by vinrant acidity. Recommend decanting for a short while if drinking now, to allow the sulfur notes to blow off. (1949 views) |
| | Tasted by BonnieM on 3/25/2006: marvelous with spicy broccoli rabe and shrimp. way too easy to drink!! no sulphur, long, yeasty finish. yum! (2158 views) |
| | Tasted by Stephan O. on 12/28/2005 & rated 89 points: Straightforward, but vibrant, stony, and packed with fruit (specifically sweet peach, fruit cocktail, melon, and a twist of lime). I don't find the sulfur note that others do. This sports an impressively long and yeasty finish for a $25 wine. Overall, it's a bit sweet for my tastes, but the zingy-ness holds everything together. | | Tasted by KRB on 11/14/2005: Decent but not spectacular. Had this about a month ago and neglected to write down notes. I have a feeling I commited a bit of infanticide here. The S.A. Prum Wehlener is showing much better currently. (2046 views) |
| | Tasted by Saunders on 11/3/2005: Lasted tasted this in Sept 2004 at J.J. Prum Estate. Notes of sulphur are normal. His wines will generally take 6-8 years before they show well, but will provide great minerality, along with the typical Mosel stone fruit characters. We tasted some 86 kabinetts at the same time which was not a great vintage in the Mosel but are showing beautifully. (1961 views) |
| | Tasted by AllRed on 7/30/2005 & rated 88 points: Upon opening we thought this might be corked. We came back to it after an hour or so, and the mustiness had blown off. Notes of sulfur, pears and apricot. Melon and minerals on the palate with a decent finish. Needs some time I think. (2237 views) |
| | Tasted by Blair Curtis on 4/30/2005 & rated 87 points: Pre-'90 Chateauneuf in Seattle (Kaspars): Again ammonia and also sulphur on the nose. Pink grapefruit on the palate with nice prickly acidity. Some melon, red berry fruit and sweetened apple juice. Good quaffer. (2772 views) |
| | Tasted by speedmac on 4/11/2005: Sulfur is predominant at this point, good bones but it will take some time before ready. Not sure how to evaluate now. (2497 views) |
