  • Consistent with previous note. Quite thin on the palate, lacks a bit of concentration. Still very pretty and balanced.

  • Dark yellow with olive-green tone. Nose of ripe yellow apple, rhubarb, cream, salt and ocean. On the palate smooth, lots of sugar and ripe grapes, a zest of orange, mature.

  • Wonderful Spätlese. Lovely weight with tropical fruit, raisin and a distinct minerality. The palate is driven by sweet mango fruit. Medium long aftertaste. The balance between sweetness and minerality is close to perfect. A bargain for €14.

  • Deepening golden colour. Gorgeous nose displaying tropical fruits, mango, a hint of toast and some botrytis, which is a bit untypical for a Spätlese but doesn't feel out of place. The flavour has a rather high amount of sweetness but with a searing acidity for balance, leading into a long finish with notes of sweet, ripe blood oranges. Lovely, lovely wine which has decades left of life in it. This particular bottle felt almost like a cross between a Spätlese and an Auslese despite the fact that stated sugar levels aren't particularly high.

I'm really falling in love with classy German rieslings like this, they pair with a huge array of food (this particular bottle complemented a Szechuan shrimp dish wonderfully), they can be enjoyed very young or very old, and they come at a fraction of the price of most of the wines from other historical regions of the world. I'm glad I have a few bottles left of this beauty so I can see what it tastes like in a decade or two.

  • Underbara gräddiga toner, med viss gummi och mycket honung och persika.
Halvtorr, kanske på gränsen till halvsöt. Bra syra bakom sötman. Härligt vin! Men så är jag också väldigt svag för stilen. Hade kanske velat ha lite mer koncentration i vinet, känns lite ihåligt bitvis.

Rockss and Fruit

(Wegeler Rudesheimer Berg Rottland Riesling Spatlese) Mosel-like aromas of apple, spices and slate. So elegant and beautifully knit. Very ripe with red fruits showing through and razor sharp acids. Floats on the palate like a feather.
