  • Intense golden, without any amber hue. Perfectly cellared since release. Nevertheless cork fully soaked. Intense nose of mango, tangerine, fir, on the palate some smoky notes, great balance of fruit and acidity with only hints of sweetness, almost dry. With air getting more and more intense. And adding more complexity with notes of forest floor and shades of nearly everything that is called citrus and slaty minerality. Long intense finish. I wouldn't say, that is still young, but for sure with one or two decades ahead, if the cork holds trough. Significant bottle variation. -2040. 5/14/20/10.

  • 1990 Bordeaux plus X (Restaurant Brunnenstube, Beinstein): Popped and poured. Clear, medium golden, youthful color . Clean, pronounced and almost youthful, classic Grünhaus nose: Herbaceous, tangerine, Cassis and elder. Dense, complex and simply intoxicating.
On the palate this bottle was definitively amazing! Racy, perfectly integrated acidity. Only 9% abv. Incredibly fresh, crystal clear precise fruit, lots of citrus and tangerine, herbs and fantastic mineral core. Very juicy! With air it developed an intense energy, pressure and concentration! And it was always airy and dancing on the tongue! Wonderful balance and very elegant. Finish was long and lingering. This bottle was still young with at least another decade ahead! Awesome wine and a great experience! 96-97

  • Perfectly stored since release. Golden without any amber. Mango, different citrus notes, herbal notes, also hints of brown sugar. Not as intense as the 1989 and with equal complexity. On the palate quite dry with most sweetness shed and crystalline acidity. Medium long finish. Better some years ago, I suppose, but holding through for a decade or more if the cork holds through. 5/13/18/9

  • Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Mostly Grünhaus with some side kicks (Private Location): Dirk already descriped the wine perfectly. The palate was everything I want from a Grünhaus cask Auslese. So fresh, vibrant and racy. Wow, just wow. If you can find a perfect stored bottle of this wine it will be a cask Auslese close to perfection. 1990 is a very special vintage at Grünhaus. All the wines I´ve had were very, very good. No rating from me here.
