  • FLower Day - another ‘found’ bottle in the cellar. I suspect I purchased it sometime in 2007 or 2008. Cork sound with little penetration. Decanted off a moderate amount of sediment. Dark Garnet core out to a slightly brownish edge. Very earthy, dark plum, rosemary and oregano nose with a touch of Volatile Acidity. On the palate, the VA is evident but not too off putting (I’m quite sensitive to VA) and the dark plum, dark chocolate and herbs overcome it. Still quite tannic on the palate but will be excellent with sausage ragu pasta. There’s good acidity and the finish shows just a hint of VA - the chocolate, fruit and herbs continue. Well Done! Marks are appropriate for most people - I would give it an 89 for the VA. With the tannins still evident, this could develop for a couple (maybe 3) years still as the fruit is still there to balance it.
