Interesting to read the notes from 2009, as this wine has held up well. Tannins, acid, and oak have integrated and it has become a well balanced wine. This bottle was purchased in Mendoza in 2004 and cellared since. Frankly, I don't recall if I bought this at the winery or a wine shop in town. My bottle could have lasted many more years, although I am not sure how much better it could get.
A touch of cedar on the nose, aged leather, tobacco with a hint of sweet fruit. Medium bodied an lingering finish.
I found this older bottle lingering in my cellar when cleaning my cellar. What a gem. Lots of sediment, decant and drink up.

Pours a dark red with minimal lacing. Aromas of black currant, tar, ashphalt, creosote and black fruits. Flavor profile of black cherry, black raspberry with earthy licoro-tar, choco and tobacco elements. Very round and smooth, the tannins have integrated and melted into the structure. The mid-palate is very smooth, with the remaining tannin flexing its muscle at the very end of the 10 second finish. Stored under vacuum for several days - finished second half of bottle and this is much better with some air - somewhat oxidized nose gives way to fruit forward profile of blackberry, raspberry, boysenberry, loganberry, graphite, etc. Tannin seems to have faded now. Seems to have come together more after this treatment. Would up score by a point based on this.

Patience is a virtue and paid off in dividends by holding the last of four bottles till the tannins were integrated. Deep dark color, nose of dark red fruits and chocolate. Big wine that is drinking well now. Medium to heavy body with fruit and spice. Long finish. Sediment was pretty heavy. Enjoyed while eating grilled burgers outside on a warm summer evening.

Drank with Christmas dinner (beef tenderloin). Still tannic and "forest floor" in taste and smell, it did have elements of dark chocolate and violets at the end of the palate. These blew off quickly, however. This bottle may have been just past it's prime.
