  • It is truly apropos that the final bottle of this wine would be its best incarnation to date! This bottle was of the oaky ilk and it was truly killer from the moment e opened the bottle till the last drop the next day. The nose on this electric gold colored wine is filled with heavy and luscious toasted oak, a whiff of burnt oak, lemon, melon, peach, toasted almond, spice, Crème brûlée, and butterscotch. The mouth on this full bodied wine is spicy with Crème brûlée, layers of concentrated toasty oak, along with butterscotch, lemon, melon, peach, and a hint of almonds. The mid palate is packed with more oak, lemon, and bright acidity. The finish is long and spicy, with tasty oak, butterscotch, and lemon. The oak never seems to take center stage, the wine's body and fruit makeup easily handle the wood while showing the butterscotch, lemon, and melon with great panache! What a true treat!

  • This bottle is once again changing on me and moving in a more consistent direction, one that I have been sued to in the past from Four Gate Chardonnays. Instead of intense toasted oak, the wine showed characteristics very much in line with our tasting from 2008, except without the green flavors. The nose on this vibrant gold colored wine is filled with ripe fruit, peach, lemon, melon, guava, lychee, butterscotch, and oak. The mouth on this medium to full bodied and very rich Chardonnay is powered by rich oak, guava, peach, melon, and citrus flavors. The mid palate is a still crisp with core acidity, slight sweetness, and nice rich (but not too toasty) oak. The finish is a long crisp and refreshing stroll with rich wood as a partner, along with butterscotch, and ripe melon. The wine is now a bit past its peak, drink up within the year!

  • This bottle is quite different from the previous one we had. Instead of intense toasted oak, the wine showed characteristics very much in line with our tasting from 2008, except without the green flavors. The nose on this light gold to gold colored wine is filled with ripe fruit, peach, lemon, melon, butterscotch, and oak. The mouth on this medium to full bodied and very rich Chardonnay is powered by some residual sugar, peach, melon, and citrus flavors. The mid palate is a strong crisp acid core mixed with some sweetness, and nice toasty (but not over the top) oak. The finish is a long crisp and refreshing stroll with toasty wood as a partner, along with butterscotch, and ripe melon. The wine is crisp yet has weight at the same time, a real joy.
