Having read previous tasting notes, I expected this 2004 to be past its best. However, it is drinking very well and certainly not overly mature. Opened and decanted for just 20 minutes. The colour is dark crimson and the nose shows good blackcurrant fruit and less plummy, despite its predominance of merlot. There's good earthiness on the palate, it's smooth and soft, with medium length fruit and good balance. Very enjoyable.

Changed my mind from y 2012 tasting note... Opened just now. Decanted half the bottle. Wine is still full. Deep purple. No oxydation whatsoever. Lots of fruit. Notes of cassis and lush berries. 88.2 average rating seems just right for this Fronsac. Enjoy for another couple of years at least.

Deeply coloured even towards rim. Good, viscous legs. Rich, fruity, almost spicy nose. Very full on the palate and still with some tannin and good acidity. These 04s have surprised me with how well they are drinking.

Great QPR. Ready yo drink now. Has red-brown color. Nose of cassis, caramel, oak and dark red berries. Medium to full body with layers of red and black fruit on the palate. Mellowing tannins, medium length finish.

Decant at least one hour as the wine will open up nicely.
