  Frist taste directly after opening was bland, but the development after was quite nice, for me personally this was a good tasting, a bit degenerated due to the massive age but it gave the wine lighter tannins which made it more enjoyable to for me. Good tannings with stronger taste of black fruits and high hints of oak and tobacco.
  
  From my novice adversaries for this tasting: they enjoyed the mix of decreased tannins but developed tastes

  Lovely mature claret. Red berries and cedar on the nose, earthy red fruit flavour - fully mature with the sweetness of fruit that only comes with 30 years in bottle. No longer vigorous but exactly what one looks for in a Bordeaux of this age. 1978 Has always been such an underrated vintage and this is another good example. Drink soon.

On the palate it doesn't hold up quite so well, with some slightly unbalanced and drying tannin and it falls away a bit quickly. But the nose shows a style that is pretty much extinct in Bordeaux today and that I absolutely adore. I think this vintage still has plenty to offer, even away from the classed growths.

  Dark ruby with a slightly brown edge. Cabernet bouquet with cassis and a little paprika. Also cassis in the taste. Good acidity. Still some sticky tannin. Firm and supple with a long aftertaste.
