Big heady, meaty, aromas of spice box, cigar wrapper, dried currant, brandied fruits, sandalwood, turned earth and a swathe of vanilla and coconut oak. Big soft, round, velvety palate full of chocolate covered fruits and spice. A nice long warm hug of a finish that gives you some kirsch and tannins to prop it up. For the hedonist, not much elegance here, instead power and flair. But with age it makes a delicious drop. A blend of 60% Cabernet and 40% Syrah from their estate vineyard in Coombsville. Drink now, it’ll only get softer.

VG nose at first, fragrant flowers. VG fruit & structure - held up till end of bottle. Drank both 2000 & this 2005 with Ruth Chris NY steak dinner over 2.5 hours. Smooth. Both 2000 & 2005 very much enjoyed. 2005 NOT past peak.

Out of 375ml, the wine is losing it. Not so fresh, going into unpleasant secondary stew mode. Still enjoyable with beef fajitas. Getting tired so drink up if small format. Probably fine in 750ml or magnum. Strongly feel like format made a difference here.

Somewhere between napa and the left bank. Still going strong and needed a 1hr decant. Medium+... mineral, blue and black fruit. Liked it very much with a rustic steak.
