  • I think I waited too long to drink this. Did not pick up the Rutherford dust smell and taste, as the big fruit was gone.

  • I have a number of bottles and was surprised at the ratings by others so I opened a couple of bottles last night. Poured without airing, strong notes of black cherry, stone fruit, and light cigar box. Deep red color, long streamers of alc in the glass. In my mind, this wine should be drunk in the next 3 years. It is almost ready now. A real treat. This is what CH was trying to do . If you haven't tried it in a while, try one now (if you can find it).

  • Decanted for an hour then accompanied a meal of wild mushroom risotto and kale. Merely a hint of something fruity on the nose. Light and mild fruit of sour cherry, very little in the middle or tail end, with virtually extinct tannin. Inoffensive but certainly done for.
Day 3: Drank the rest of the bottle with galettes saracin with little mushrooms and cheese. Cherry and a bit of apple with little going on the tail end. Adequately balanced but still unremarkable Molli liked it, though.

  • Not much on the nose. Thin, tart and generally wanting on the tail end. Perhaps it is past its prime. My least favorite of the generally excellent '05 Cameron Hughes cabs.

  • A very nice Cab. Having been disappointed in a few of my previous Cameron Hughes selections - I was not expecting much. Big mistake. A very elegant cab. Choclate notes and classic cassis, well balanced with no harsh tannins. A medium long finish. Really delightful. I had planned on giving away the other bottle... on second thought...
