Cork broken in half but otherwise fine, no seepage. Dark purple with slight bricking. A bit unbalanced, with a slightly bitter attack, huge mid palate with chocolate and cherries, and a short but pungent finish. The mid palate goes a long way towards marking this enjoyable, but overall a bit odd. Past its prime?

I was a little disappointed with this wine. Opened for about 45 minutes before tasting. It had heavily extracted fruit, not much mid-palate and an almost bitter finish. After another 90 minutes open it had integrated better, but the fruit up front was overpowering. For the price of this bottle I would call it very low QPR

Beautiful! 2nd day open. Color is opaque but beautiful ruby red gems visible along the edges in direct sunlight. Delightful nose: smooth, rich leather and cream. Front palate: creamy rich dark fruits and leather. Lots of spice! Mid-palate: raspberries and ripe strawberries. Finish: long & loving dark chocolate. Great with grilled Italian turkey sausage, zucchini and mushrooms.

(Saggi) Saggi Dear Friends, Ok, this one needs little hype. It’s the most limited of the Long Shadows wines, from potentially the greatest vintage of the last few decades and those that have tasted it think the critical acclaim will be more than eye-popping. This is the Folonari cuvee made in Washington State - it is Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and coddled Tuscan-inspired Sangiovese (the real stuff, not the sweet and blowsy wine being passed off as Sangiovese in many US examples). Not sure if this is the most impressive wine yet produced by Long Shadows but it seems to be a distinct possibility. Leonetti meets Tua Rita? Whatever it is, it’s going to make waves. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY with perfect provenance. 2005 Saggi (Long Shadows) Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA WA8200
