Found this relic in my cellar and figured it either needed to be drank or tossed The cork looked disgusting, but surprisingly came out in one piece. This wine still has amazing life. The sweetness is still apparent with a nice blend of acidity.

still hanging in there just fine, and surprisingly good for $20 -- always a great reminder of how Riesling ages. quince, dried apricot, honeycomb. perception of sweetness has faded away. medium finish could go longer.

Delicious mature Riesling. Wet and moldy cork, as others have noticed, but nothing wrong with the wine. Massive nose of petrol. More petrol on the palate, with apple, peach, citrus, honey plus some floral notes. Nice floral uplift on the finish. The sweetness and acidity nicely resolved in the background so you hardly even notice them.

(DSS Schloss Sch?nborn Spatlese) 1990 Riesling Dear Friends, I think they are getting tired of me at Schloss Schonborn. Maybe I’m a pushy American but I keep asking for the old library stock and they keep saying “ok” but it was made clear that this is the only 1990 they have left and (regardless of how much we’ve offered of the other wines) this one was not going to be available. In fact, there are no more library wines available - you’ve relieved them of most of their cellar but I’ve assured the powers that be that the wines will be dooly appreciated and enjoyed by those that applaud their efforts, incredible prices and will-power with cellaring all of these older wines. As is my nature (not taking no for an answer until I hear “no” at least three times - an interesting rule to live by) I asked again while I was on my way to Reims to visit a new upstart Champagne producer that is getting so much buzz in France I had to see for myself (more on that after I try the wines...). Maybe it’s the solar/luner gravity balance or something today but for some reason they said yes. So, without going into excessive detail and because I don’t have the liberty of time today, here’s the 1990 Schloss Schonborn Riesling “DSS” Spatlese (Domdechaney Stein Stielweg - I believe) for this price, never moved since release and not even labeled yet - that’s about all that needs to be said. I haven't tasted it but the wine should be at absolute peak right now and based on the history of all the wines thus far, this is another crazy buy (and it’s a 1990). They did not give me much of this but Niki will try to spread it around as equitably as she can - please throw your hat in the ring and we’ll try out best. ONE SHIPMENT ONLY directly from the winery cellar in the Rheingau 1990 Schloss Schonborn Riesling Spatlese “DSS” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA Germ9979

St Johns with deli food.
Cork was soaked 90%. Deep yellow color with honey fruit. Very good wine. Could drink many of these bottles.
