  • Bought this wine on a trip to the adelaide hills in the 2000’s and have stored all 6 well - this was the last bottle.

Deep inky colour, but hasn’t browned off too much for its age. Rich raspberries on the nose still, great acid and fruit structure. Velvet smooth tannins and berries have softened off on the back pallet with age. Was the perfect accompanyment to porterhouse steak, if you have any in the cellar - drink it now, this wine is singing, don’t wait !!

  • 14,5% alcohol. Tasted blind.

Somewhat translucent blackish red color with a somewhat tertiary mahogany hue. Developed, concentrated enjoyably juicy nose with seductive aromas of ripe blackcurrant, some tomato stalk, a little bit of plummy dark fruit, light meaty notes and a hint of mushy tomato stew. The wine is ripe, full-bodied and silky on the palate with rather dry flavors of ripe blackcurrant, some savory oak spice, a little bit of peppery spice, light figgy dried fruit, a hint of extracted bitterness and a developed touch of raisiny fruit. The structure relies more on the quite high acidity than on the ripe, textural and quite gently grippy tannins. The finish is ripe, tertiary and subtly grippy with complex, layered flavors of wizened dark plums, some dark raisiny fruit, light toasty oak tones, a little bit of peppery spice, a hint of ripe tomato and a touch of sweet mocha oak. The high alcohol lends a slight hint of warmth to the aftertaste.

A wonderful, textural and beautifully developed Aussie Shiraz that comes across as pretty tertiary, supple and complex in taste. It feels like there has been a fair amount of oak at some point, but it has integrated quite nicely with the developed fruit over the years. The wine is in a beautiful shape right now and most likely it won't improve with any further cellaring - it is at its plateau of maturity right now. Fine, enjoyable stuff.

  • Nose with ripe and juciy blackberries and dark cherries, oak notes, and flowery notes of violets that together with the berry component gives a bit of "wine gum impression" (without being simple or synthetic). Medium bodied+, ripe blackberries and dark cherries, quite fine acidity, some peppery notes, medium(+) tannins that are still rather present. Still fruity and gives a mostly youthful impression, quite fresh. 90 p.

  • Lots of fresh dark cherry, raspberry and blackberry on the nose. The palate is full and rich, it has a lovely freshness with hint of sweetness and spice. Great structure and nice lenght. Nicely drinking at the moment but no rush with this one.

  • schöner Aussie-Shiraz, weich rund saftig mit dickem Körper und sehr langem Abgang, auf Trinkoptimum, wohl keine Verbesserung mehr. Schöner Wein mit gutem PGV bis 30 €
