  Subsequent notes on this wine from close to three years ago. Medium-deep, reddish garnet in color with ever-so-slight clearing at the edges. Full, fragrant & quite aromatic nose of ripe fruit aromas of red cherries, strawberries & kirsch notes with overtones of spice notes of cloves & floral notes, earthy/dusty, mushrooms, herbs, minerals & a hint of vanilla. Medium-full bodied with a very good concentration of well balanced & smooth texture, ripe fruit flavors of sweet dark cherries, mulberries & plums with spices, herbs, truffles, minerals & a touch of vanilla. Long lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with extended airing but at 12 years of age, it may be at or close to its peak of development. I doubt it will develop any further from this point but should hold here for several more years if cellared properly. One of the loveliest Walter Hansel Pinots I have tried.

  Medium-deep to deep reddish garnet in color. Fragrant, attractive, youthful yet complex nose of bright red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries and kirsch with lovely exotic spice overtones of cloves and cinnamon, earthy, some herbs, cherry-cola, dark cocoa notes and minerals. Medium-full to full bodied, very good concentration of balanced, plush, dense, intense, complex ripe red fruit flavors of sweet cherries, strawberries, mulberries & plums with spices, dark cocoa, herbs and minerals. Long, lingering finish. Drinks quite well with extended airing but has the ripe fruit & solid structure to develop further with additional aging. A dense and intense Pinot with stellar structure with a promising future.
